Exciting music theater to the sounds of Ligeti about nocturnal adventures in a toy warehouse
a theatrical family concert (6+) as part of Ligeti 100
Premiere May 28, 2023, Kölner Philharmonie Cologne (DE)
The toys of from toy store Spielewelt are fed up. More and more often, their place in the shop window is taken by a "trending game" that is supposed to be the "next hit in the children's room". Something has to happen! Soon they will still gather dust in the warehouse. And so, one night they rebel. After the owner turns off the light, they build a toy monster that aims to teach people what really fun toys are. But then, it turns out that the monster they created has very different ideas about their future...
Together with 3 singers and Ensemble Die Musikfabrik, stage director Annechien Koerselman brings Ligeti's music theatrically to life. Ligeti's world of sound lays the foundation for an exciting and funny story about nocturnal toy adventures for the whole family, without a word being spoken.
In The Toy Revolt the following works by György Ligeti are reviewed: Aventures, Nouvelles Aventures, das Trio für Violine, Horn und Klavier und Mysteries of the Macabre.
